Finding our way back to each other through the medicine of music, dance and celebration
Dancing Thru Death is a healing arts festival hosted by Solasta McIntyre Ethridge inspired by the many endings and beginnings they have experienced over the past 2+ years.
In particular their upcoming move home to New York, and the official end of No Mirror Movement and their previous performer identity: SammyMac.
These are just personal examples of the many ways in which everyone has experienced death, loss and growth throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
After significant community fragmentation, isolation and collective trauma, the festival is dedicated to providing spaces for folks to find their way back to each other through the medicine of music, story and celebration.
Farewell Event: Queer panel, interactive show and community dance party
Come be together as we root into the medicine of music, dance and community to be our container for processing some of what we’ve all been through these past two years, as well as to say farewell to Solasta McIntyre Ethridge and Pita Meanata as they embark on a new adventure on the East Coast where Solasta is from.
Death Card Year - An interactive art installation
Join multi-modal artist Solasta McIntyre Ethridge as they explore altars as archives, dreams as reality, and the light & shadow of embodied ancestral connection through deep death times. Experience their stories from their Death Card Year (2021).
No Mirror Movement’s Last Dance Session
Come celebrate the life and death of No Mirror Movement - a mission driven dance collective that has been modeling what it means to be an all levels, all styles and all bodies professional dance company for six years.
